1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and BellBoard (“BellBoard,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your access to the BellBoard website, web application, Alexa skill, Telegram features, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, linking a service, starting a trial, or using BellBoard, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use BellBoard on behalf of a family or organization, you represent that you have authority to do so.
2. Eligibility and family accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract to create and manage a BellBoard family account. BellBoard is designed for parents, guardians, and authorized adults; it is not intended for children under 13 to register or manage accounts directly.
The account owner controls family membership, connected sources, recipient access, and child information. You are responsible for obtaining any permission needed before adding another person’s or child’s information or sending it to a family recipient.
3. Accounts and security
Provide accurate information, protect account credentials and linked devices, and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account and for reviewing who can access the shared family workspace, Telegram briefings, Alexa account, and connected calendars.
Private calendar-feed URLs, family forwarding addresses, Telegram pairing invitations, and OAuth grants must be treated as credentials. Do not share them publicly.
4. What BellBoard provides
BellBoard helps families collect and organize school schedules, assignments, events, reminders, and selected school communications. Features may include source imports, selectively forwarded school email, notifications, Telegram briefings, Alexa responses, recurring events, and optional AI-assisted extraction.
BellBoard is an independent family-planning tool. It is not a school, school district, student information system, emergency service, or official source of academic records. BellBoard is not endorsed by Planbook, PowerSchool, Schoology, Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, Moodle, Google, Microsoft, Telegram, Amazon, or any school unless expressly stated.
5. Connected services
When you connect a third-party account or source, you authorize BellBoard to access and process the information necessary to provide the requested feature. Your use of that third party remains subject to its own terms and privacy policy. You represent that you are permitted to access and import the source.
BellBoard does not connect to your email account. When you forward a message to your family's private BellBoard address, you direct us to process that message to provide school notifications and reminders.
We may suspend a connector when a provider changes its service, credentials expire, a source becomes unavailable, or continued access would create a security, legal, or operational risk.
6. Your content and permissions
You retain ownership of information you enter or connect (“Your Content”). You grant BellBoard a limited, non-exclusive license to host, copy, process, transmit, and display Your Content only as needed to operate, secure, support, and improve the Service and comply with law.
You are responsible for Your Content and must not upload information you do not have the right to use. Do not use BellBoard to collect unnecessary sensitive information about children, teachers, or other people.
7. Imported and AI-generated information
School pages, emails, calendar feeds, and AI or rule-based parsers can be incomplete, delayed, unavailable, or wrong. Dates, assignments, grades, cancellations, transportation details, and deadlines must be verified against the original school communication. You remain responsible for decisions made using BellBoard.
BellBoard does not provide legal, medical, educational, safety, or professional advice. Do not rely on it for emergencies or time-critical school instructions.
8. Fourteen-day trials and paid subscriptions
BellBoard may offer eligible new customers a 14-day free trial. Trial eligibility can be limited to one trial per person, family, account, payment method, or other reasonable identifier. The checkout page will show the plan, price, billing interval, trial length, and any taxes before you confirm.
Unless checkout states otherwise, a trial automatically converts to a paid, recurring subscription when the trial ends. Stripe processes the payment method you provide. To avoid a charge, cancel before the trial expires. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the disclosed interval until canceled.
You authorize BellBoard and Stripe to charge applicable subscription fees and taxes. You may cancel through the billing-management option made available by BellBoard or Stripe. Cancellation stops future renewals and normally takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Except where required by law or expressly stated at purchase, charges already paid are non-refundable. We may change future pricing with advance notice required by law.
9. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use the Service unlawfully or violate another person’s rights.
- Access a family, mailbox, calendar, or source without permission.
- Probe, disrupt, overload, or bypass Service security or limits.
- Upload malware or use automated means that burden the Service.
- Resell, copy, reverse engineer, or exploit the Service except as law permits.
- Use BellBoard to harass, surveil, or profile children or other people.
- Misrepresent affiliation with a school, district, or BellBoard.
10. BellBoard intellectual property
The Service, software, visual design, branding, and documentation are owned by BellBoard or its licensors and protected by applicable law. These Terms give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended family-planning purpose. They do not transfer ownership of BellBoard intellectual property.
11. Availability, changes, and termination
We may change, add, suspend, or discontinue features, including third-party connectors. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may suspend or terminate access for nonpayment, material breach, fraud, security risk, legal requirements, or conduct that harms the Service or others.
You may stop using BellBoard at any time and may request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including payment obligations, ownership, disclaimers, and liability limits—will survive.
12. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” BellBoard disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and availability.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BellBoard and its suppliers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, revenue, profits, opportunities, or goodwill. BellBoard’s total liability for claims arising from the Service will not exceed the amount you paid BellBoard during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so portions of this section may not apply to you.
14. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold BellBoard and its personnel harmless from claims, losses, and expenses arising from Your Content, your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Colorado, and each party consents to their jurisdiction.
16. General terms
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement concerning the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, acquisition, or sale.
17. Changes and contact
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required. Continued use after updated Terms take effect means you accept them. Questions can be sent to support@bellboard.net.
